The Age of Exploration Family Sketch Hike

Arts in Education Aid Council (AEAC) is participating in The Big Draw L.A., a series of month long public events for people of all ages to discover that drawing can help us SEE, THINK, and CREATE.
Please join us for a free drawing event in Malibu.

Bring your sketchbooks, hiking shoes, sunscreen, and a picnic lunch. We will hike and sketch as a group along the trails of Charmlee Park. A park docent will lead our hike, ending at the cliffs of Malibu, and an arts educator will conduct a lesson on how the early explorers had to draw everything they saw, because there were no cameras in the 15th century. Everything is free (except for a few dollars to park - a tax deductible donation to AEAC is welcome!!). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturday, October 22
10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

AEAC is helping individual schools produce their own annual student art show and family arts festival so that they can feature more or all of their student body, generate more parent support for the arts at their schools, and make connections to their immediate community via the arts.  We would be happy to come out to your schools to talk to your parent groups or arts committee to take you through the steps of putting on your own show! Call 818-610-2050 or write assist@aieac.org.

Two years ago, we produced our first Battle of the Bands Family Music Festival for middle schools at Sutter Middle School in Winnetka.   School bands competed on an indoor stage and youth rock bands played all day on an outdoor stage.  Music vendors promoted their programs near the outdoor stage.  We are looking for sponsors to produce our next Battle of the Bands!
